Gnome Panel Font Color Part Deux

Warning: Using Gnome Color Chooser provides the ability to customize hidden design settings in Gnome, however these settings are incompatable with the Appearance control-panel’s theme customizer and some settings cannot be changed back

In my vast void, I discovered a bit of jetsam floating by that I had never seen before. It rolled with glittery colors that made me go, “Ooooh!” Thanks to reader Martyn Parker who pointing out to me this shiny splendor. As it tumbled in my hand, I took a look closer and could see it bore a tiny logo called Gnome Color Chooser.

Gnome Color Chooser is a control panel that can change attributes for GTK display properties. A good number of theme-ing options have been coded for GTK to display but many haven’t been implemented for means of conformity. Like the panel font color I discovered yesterday, some of these attributes aren’t seen in the regular Gnome control panels.

As can be seen, the Gnome Color Chooser includes the ability to add a hover color to the panel which is nice. It has alot abilities, but I’m not sure how many of these I’m going to change as who knows how many of them will roll over into Gnome 2.22. As for now I have a good panel :)

In Gentoo, I fixed the little bit old ebuild to the new internet site and changed the location of the download, I also updated the version.

Opening Gnome Color Chooser can be done in “Settings -> Preferences”

Note: If a custom ~/.gtkrc-2.0 was made like in the tip yesterday, be sure to move or delete it first.

Update: I play around with this for awhile and got a pretty good scheme going.

You can everything revert by just clear the changes in GNOME Color Chooser (e.g. by file->new) and click on apply. ;-)

  5. Aw, it was a really fantastic post. Theoretically I want to write like this also – spending time and actual effort to create a good write-up… but so what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something carried out.
